A dominant Jabeur took the first set with ease. The second set began to distress the Tunisian as the game was slipping away from her. Owing to many unforced errors, Jabeur was unable to turn the game in her favour. Known for her calm temperament, Rybakina seized every opportunity and ended the match with great finesse. She was able to break Jabeur’s massive serve 3 times out of 8 opportunities.

Born in Russia, the 17th seed switched her citizenship to Kazakhstan in 2018. The Kazakhstan Tennis Federation provided financial support to Rybakina to represent Kazakhstan. Ons Jabeur was also looking to make history as the first African woman to become Wimbledon Champion. Her 11-match winning streak was broken in the final.

In the trophy ceremony, both the players gave out heartfelt speeches and thanked their fans and team. Jabeur also wished Eid Mubarak to all the Muslims. An overwhelmed Rybakina stumbled through her speech but was met with much cheering from the supportive crowd.
