EU seeks to impose more sanctions on Russia

The European Union is inching closer to imposing more sanctions on Russia. A move to ban Russian gold and regulate exports of other high-technology goods has been supported by 27 ambassadors. This measure is part of a series that the EU hopes to implement so that Russia faces serious repercussions for the war in Ukraine.

Chief of foreign affairs in the EU, Josep Borrell said that gold is the most important export that they can ban at the moment. It is Moscow’s second largest export, second only to energy exports.

EU and G7 will cooperate on the implementation as the group already discussed and pledged to follow through on a gold ban.
