U.S. Issues Worldwide Alert For People Visiting Abroad After Al-Zawahiri Death

According to Sources, Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of Al Qaeda, was killed in a counterterrorism operation, prompting the United States to urge its citizens to travel with “high level of alertness” on Tuesday. In an international notification, the US State Department expressed concern over the lingering risk of terrorist attacks and “related violent acts” against US individuals and interests abroad.

The authorities issued a warning that the attacks may employ “a broad variety of tactics, involving suicidal operations, assassination, kidnappings, hijackings, and explosions”.

What U.S. State Department conveyed :

According to the state department alert, terrorist attacks, political violence include demonstrations, criminal activity, and other security incidents frequently happen without any prior notice. As a result, U.S. citizens are strongly advised to keep up a high level of vigilance and practise good situational awareness while going overseas.

It went on to advise Americans living overseas to pay attention to local news broadcasts and keep in touch with the nearest embassy or consulate.

An American precision operation in Kabul on July 31 killed Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s assistant and the new leader of al-Qaeda. According to the US State Department, the Al-Qaeda chief, who was one of the architects of the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States in 2001, never ceased urging his followers to attack the US.

The Taliban, who also condemned the weekend drone strike on Kabul, confirmed Zawahiri’s demise. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid asserted that an assault on a residence went against “world principles.” US sources claim that Al-Zawahiri was the only victim of the attack, no one from his family was harmed.

As per the information of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Taliban grossly breached the conditions of the Doha Agreement by harbouring and sheltering the Al-Qaeda leader.

By harbouring and concealing the commander of al-Qa’ida in Kabul, the Taliban flagrantly violated the Doha Agreement and their repeated promises to the international community that they would not permit Afghan land to be used by terrorists to threaten the safety of other countries.
