China Launches Fresh military Drills Near Taiwan

According to Sources, China held combined arms training exercises on Monday with a focus on anti-submarine and sea assault operations as part of its ongoing pressure campaign on Taiwan in the wake of a recent visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In a brief statement on Weibo, China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) eastern theatre command declared that it will practice anti-submarine assaults and sea raids close to the island, which Beijing claims is a renegade province.

Announcement of new Drills :

When China announced the latest set of drills on Monday, the day after what was supposed to be the final day of four-day combined live-fire exercises surrounding Taiwan, it did not specify how long they would last.

The announcement follows Beijing’s announcement on Sunday that military exercises would be expanded to additional maritime zones, including the Bohai Sea off the northern Chinese coast and the Yellow Sea near China and the Korean Peninsula.

Bohai and Yellow sea drills will happen :

According to a statement issued on Sunday by China’s Maritime Safety Administration, the Bohai Sea drill will occur between August 8 and September 8, and the Yellow Sea drill will occur between August 7 and 15. (MSA). The practise with a Taiwanese focus saw the first conventional missile launch over the island of Taiwan. In addition, hundreds of Chinese ships and aircraft entered the middle of the Taiwan Strait.

The PLA sent multiple bomber formations to cross the Taiwan Strait simultaneously in both directions, launched “bomber deterrent flights” and practiced “island saturation strikes”. The moves China took in response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, according to a representative for the Chinese defence ministry, were appropriate and essential.

The Chinese side’s countermeasures are fair and proportionate, necessary warnings to the US and Taiwan’s provocations, and justified acts to defend national sovereignty and security, according to spokesperson Wu Qian, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

“The present issues in the Taiwan Strait are solely the result of provocations by the US side. Wu contends that as a result, the US side should take full accountability and bear the severe consequences.
