As per Information, Australia has released its first national biosecurity strategy in an effort to protect its environment from diseases and pests that might completely destroy the agricultural sector.
As risks rise due to climate change, more trade and travel, and changing land uses, the National Biosecurity Strategy combines current state and territorial efforts to avoid animal disease incursions.
“Efficient, effective and strong biosecurity is even more vital as we respond to mounting concerns, including illnesses on our doorstep”, Agriculture Minister Murray Watt stated on Tuesday.
Red Alert In Australia :
Australia has been on red alert for foot-and-mouth diseases in its cow herds as a result of the recent outbreak of the virus in Indonesia and the detection of viral evidence on imported animal products in July.
A major factor in the anticipated A$80 billion ($55.8 billion) in direct economic repercussions from an epidemic in Australia would be trade restrictions that may make it difficult for Australian exporters to reach more than 150 overseas markets.
The virus most likely won’t go completely from the nation of Southeast Asia. But according to Watt’s statement this week, Indonesian authorities appear to be slowing the spread, particularly in Bali, where tens of thousands of Australian visitors travel every year.
