China announced on Wednesday that its military drills simulating an invasion on the independent island had ended after more than a week of training in the area of Taiwan.
As per the PLA Eastern Theater Command recent, manoeuvres around Taiwan effectively demonstrated the forces’ capacity to engage in joint operations battle. The leadership also said that it would plan regular patrols for battle readiness in the Taiwan Strait.
Purpose of China for using Military Drills :
According to Foreign Minister of Taiwan Joseph Wu, China was using the military drills to restrict the freedom of navigation in the skies and waterways of the Taiwan Strait as well as to prepare for an invasion. Wu asserted that China’s intention to conduct military exercises near to Taiwan violates the island nation’s legal rights and imperils the peace in the region.
China has prepared for an invasion of Taiwan by practising the exercises from its military playbook. Through extensive military exercises, missile launches, cyberattacks, disinformation operations, and economic coercion, the official claimed that it is attempting to undermine public morale in Taiwan.
In response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, China asserted that, it is now preparing for every imaginable scenario. China used this assertion as justification for its ongoing military drills and airspace breaches in the East and South China Seas.
Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, according to Hua Chunying, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry, is a serious provocation that has boosted US-Taiwan relations and seriously threatens China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She also said that China must be prepared for any scenario.
She questioned if the US genuinely adhered to the essential ideas in her views on US foreign policy on Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and NATO’s eastward expansion. According to Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, the country is putting in a lot of effort to prepare for battle against the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which is conducting its military exercises and showing that it poses a threat.
