Ex-Pakistan PM booked under anti-terrorism charge

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been booked under anti-terrorist charges over his comments at a rally in Islamabad on Saturday.

The website reported that as per the first information report (FIR), the case was registered in Islamabad’s Margalla police station areas on Saturday night on the complaint of magistrate Ali Javed. The FIR mentioned that on Saturday’s rally, Imran had terrorised and threatened top cops and an additional sessions judge during his address.

Earlier satellite television channels in Pakistan were prohibited from broadcasting live speeches by ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan earlier this week, hours after he threatened state institutions and made provocative statements.

As he addressed a public gathering here on Saturday, Khan threatened to file a case against top police officials, a female magistrate, the Election Commission of Pakistan and political opponents over the treatment he received for his aide Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested for sedition last week.

It is also rumoured that Khan will be arrested soon or within the next few days. According to Pakistan’s interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, a case is likely to be filed against the former prime minister for his threats to state institutions and provocative remarks at the rally.
