China To Use Cloud Seeding Method To Cause Rainfall

In the middle of a disastrous drought brought on by a heatwave that set records, authorities in China are working to create rain. According to a source, the nation plans to use cloud-seeding technology to create rain in an effort to relieve the drought conditions plaguing several areas, including the Yangtze River basin.

A number of businesses have closed in order to conserve electricity due to the high temperatures, which have also impacted agricultural development. The Yangtze River, commonly known as Asia’s longest river, has seen record low water levels. In some places, the rainfall has been less than half the usual. Authorities claim that the water level in hydroelectric reservoirs has decreased by up to 50%.

Meanwhile, a source said that the increased demand for air conditioning has put a lot of pressure on electricity providers. By launching aircraft into the clouds and releasing silver iodide, the practise of cloud-seeding causes rain to fall on the ground. A similar geoengineering technique, according to scientists, may be utilised in the future to mitigate the effects of climate change on the planet.
