Afghanistan thrashed Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their second Group B encounter, demonstrating once more that they are in it to win it in 2022. With two victories in as many games, Mohammad Nabi’s side became the first group to advance to the Super Four round on August 30.
After deciding to bat at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, Bangladesh recorded a disappointing total of 127 for 7 in 20 overs, which was Shakib Al Hasan’s 100th T20I as captain. Afghanistan started off slowly, but a remarkable innings from Najibullah Zadran (43 not out in 17 balls) allowed them to bat out the score with 7 wickets remaining in just 18.3 overs.
Man of the match Mujeeb Ur Rahman said , “My specialty is bowling with the new ball, but in Dubai I was unable to use this skill. In a powerplay, I almost always choose to bowl. My entire strategy was to bowl wicket to wicket, and it was successful.”
