The leader of the Group of 20 major economies stated on Thursday that there are still “quite a lot of significant gaps” to be closed over geopolitical differences, notably the conflict in Ukraine.
The G20 has nonetheless been able to maintain its status this year, Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said at a news conference following another meeting of the group’s finance leaders that ended without a joint statement “as the foremost international forum for financial and economic policy.
“According to Indrawati, the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors concurred that the common framework for debt restructuring needed to be improved in order to increase predictability and make use of resources and capability to address the requirements of several developing countries.
A global agreement reached last year to restructure international corporation taxation was also confirmed by the group, according to her.” ‘Huge gaps,‘ according to G20 chair Indrawati, persist on the Ukraine crisis and geopolitical issues.
