At the Australian Open 2023 on Friday, Yoshihito Nishioka defeated Mackenzie McDonald, who had recently overcame Rafael Nadal, to become just the third Japanese player to accumulate 100 Tour level victories.

The 27 years old defeated the American, who on Wednesday shocked injured title holder Rafael Nadal by 7-6 (8/6), 6-3, 6-2, to advance to his first round of 16 at a Grand Slam. The left hander matched fellow Japanese players Kei Nishikori (431) and Shuzo Matsuoka by winning his 100th game of his career (148).
