According to information, a woman and seven children, who varied in age from two to fourteen, died on Monday in a fire that broke out while they were asleep in their house in northern France.
Just after midnight, a family home in the village of Charly sur Marne, which is located around 50 miles which is 80 kilometres east of Paris, caught fire in a blazing fire. The fire which broke out in France was the deadliest of its kind in 10 years period. The mother and her children died due to suffocation, as per the information provided by the city attorney Julien Morino Ros.
He claimed that the fire appeared to have been started by a malfunctioning clothes dryer that was located on the home’s lower floor. The neighbours contacted the fire department just before 1:00 am (00:00 GMT) to report the incident. The husband of the woman, who is the father of three of the children, was immediately admitted to a hospital after suffering severe burns.
Before other firefighters came, a nearby firefighter who quickly saved his life. The children included two males and five girls. They came from the mother’s first marriage, four of them. The father claimed to have attempted to put out the fire as the children and their mother taken shelter from the fire on the second story of the house, but the prosecutor stated that this move ultimately served as a trap.
Black smoke enveloped the house, which is hidden away on a quiet street in the midst of the 2,600 person town, while firefighters fought to reach the higher windows. He asserted that the building’s electric window curtains were closed as a result of a power outage, further delaying the rescue effort.
Further, the local authorities also said that, the fire was extinguished after several hours and the presence of 80 firemen. The incident was the deadliest since a fire that started accidentally in northern France in 2013 that killed five children between the ages of two and nine.
