The seventh seeded Aryna Sabalenka blasted away Belinda Bencic away with a savage show of power striking on Monday in the Australian Open 2023 and sprinting into her first quarterfinal at the Australian Open.
The fifth seeded Belarusian defeated Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 with a 7-5, 6-2 victory on Rod Laver Arena in 1 hour and 27 minutes and will face either Linda Fruhvirtova or Donna Vekic in the quarter-finals.
Only once during the match was Aryna Sabalenka challenged, when the 12th seed from Switzerland broke her serve early in the first set.
But she showed off the mental toughness she had been lacking in the past, which allowed her to calmly break back and further took charge and won the match easily.
