On Sunday, Mushfiqur Rahim, a wicketkeeper and batter for Bangladesh, made the announcement that he was giving up international T20 competition. Rahim took part in both of Bangladesh’s matches during the ongoing Asia Cup, despite the fact that the Shakib-Al-Hasan ‘s team was unable to go past the Super 4s phase after losing to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement and said he would now focus on ODIs and Test matches. Rahim further said that he will be open to joining franchise leagues if the opportunity comes.
Mushfiqur has become the second player from Bangladesh to have retired from T20 Internationals after Tamim Iqbal did in July. During the Asia Cup, Rahim scored one and four to his score against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
Mushfiqur Rahim participated in 102 T20 International matches for Bangladesh and scored 1,500 runs at a 19.48 batting average. In this variant, a right-handed batter’s highest score is 72 not out. He participated in T20Is for Bangladesh and had a strike rate of 115.03.
