In an effort to attract the concerned homeowners of dogs or cats that are unable to shed their fur in the warm summers of Japan, a Tokyo garment firm has worked with veterinarians to develop a wearable fan for pets.
The device is a mesh garment with an 80-gram around 3-ounce, battery-operated fan attached to it that moves air over an animal’s body.
According to Rei Uzawa, CEO of the Maternity Clothes Company Sweet Mommy, she was motivated to create it after seeing how exhausted her own chihuahua became after going on walks in the oppressive summer heat.
She continued, “I think we manufactured a product that is good for the market in that aspect. The hot days arrived sooner this year as there was basically no rainy season”.
Just after rainy season ended in late June, Tokyo saw its longest heatwave ever, including nine days of temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius almost 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
“Usually, I use dry cold pack to keep the dog cool. But I think that, having this fan makes it simpler for me to take my dog on a stroll “Mami Kumamoto, 48, who also has a dog named Maco and a small poodle named Pudding, stated this.
Since the device’s launch at the beginning of July, roughly 100 orders have been placed for it, claims Uzawa. It comes in five different sizes and costs 9,900 yen that is ($74).
