According to Information, China initiated a diplomacy offensive against the US on Friday, sanctioning the House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi days after becoming the highest-ranking US politician to visit self-ruled Taiwan since 1997, and cancelling eight bilateral mechanisms, as it proceeded its ongoing display of rage against both the US and the island, along with an ongoing display of military might around it.
Pelosi’s Sanction and climate talk dismissed :
In response to Pelosi’s journey to Taiwan soon after it was revealed on Friday that she had been sanctioned, “eight countermeasures”, according to the Chinese foreign ministry, had been put in place. These included cancelling talks between military officials and delaying important climate change negotiations between Beijing and Washington.
Cancellation of Defence meeting :
As per the statement from the Foreign Ministry, The withdrawal of meetings between the China and US defence ministries, cooperation on criminal judicial assistance, cooperation on repatriation of undocumented immigrants, and maritime military security consultations between China and the US were among the new measures.
Pelosi had shown “disregard of China’s significant worries” by travelling to Taiwan, a self-governing democracy that China claims as its own, said the ministry that penalised her. The one-China principle is gravely violated, the peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait are gravely threatened, and China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are severely undermined.
In response to Pelosi’s unacceptable transgression, China decides to apply sanctions on her and members of her immediate family in accordance with Chinese law. Chinese sanctions frequently forbid those who are subject to them from entering the country and doing business with Chinese companies.
A surge of nationalism has swept the country in response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and the Chinese government’s response, and many people are closely following the proceedings.
