According to reports, China’s military have said that, they conducted military drills involving land attacks and sea assaults surrounding Taiwan for the 2nd attempt in much less than a month.
The People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theatre Command also stated that, its soldiers had conducted “joint military readiness patrol and actual combat drills” in the sea and airspace surrounding Taiwan.
They also further told that, the exercises were mentioned as being meant to “resolutely resist the aggressive activities of external pressures and Taiwan independence separatist forces”. Taiwan, which even the Chinese government considers to be its own territory, took some time to respond.
China carried out similar drills toward the end of last month. The median line that divides the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, as by Taiwan notice, it was crossed by 43 Chinese aircraft. China has repeatedly undertaken military breaches into the seas and airspace surrounding Taiwan during the last three years.
China has consistently refused to back down from using force to capture the island. China conducted military drills close to Taiwan when Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the United States House, toured Taipei in August. Beijing’s assertions of sovereignty are strongly rejected by democratically run Taiwan.
