‘I Can’t Afford Milk For My Babies’: Sri Lanka’s Public

Food Scarcity reportedly has reached 57% since last month, and a recent survey which was conducted by the World Food Program conducted in 17 out of 25 districts has found that most families are feeling the effects of hunger and can’t afford milk for the new born babies

Despite help from other nations including India, there is a lack of foreign reserves and the hiked global food prices which have made it more difficult for the sri Lankan Government to import the essential items.

Unemployment mean most families can’t even afford most of their basic daily needs. after the crsis the Sri Lankan energy minister had reportedly stated a statement “to ask the public to refrain from lining up for gasoline for the next three days”.

Sri Lankan public states that Families can”t even Buy which they used to buy. they are reducing on meals and the basic needs, They are down on nutritious food to feed their children.

Sri Lanka’s foreign currency reserves goes really bad. In May it failed to make a payment on its foreign debt, for the first time in its history. The government official blames the Covid pandemic, which affected Sri Lanka’s tourist trade – one of its biggest foreign currency earners.
