Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei responded on Monday due to the biggest protests held in Iran in recent years after weeks, by condemning them in the name of ‘rioting’ and accusing Israel and the U.S. by organizing them.
Khanamei said he was ‘heartbroken’ by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of Iran’s morality police, which set off the nationwide protests, calling her death a “sad incident.” However, he sharply condemned the protests as a foreign plot to destabilize Iran.
Demonstrations have continued in many places in Iran as authorities have blocked Internet access to the outside world and many social media applications. Many such demonstrations took place in universities as students shouted slogans and protest against clampdowns by authorities.
