Ireland Beats Scotland By 6 Wickets In An High Scoring Encounter In The T20 World Cup 2022 Qualifiers

Scotland after winning the toss and electing to bat first, despite having excellent batting, Scotland lost the previous match Man of the Match, the opener George Munsey in the second over.

With the help of Michael Jones scoring 86 runs off just 55 deliveries including one that went over the roof of the stadium and hitting six boundaries and four sixes. He shared a partnership combination of 59 runs with Matthew Cross and Cross scoring 29 runs and captain Richie Berrington contributing 37 runs and 77 runs partnership for Berrington and Jones respectively.

And at the end, Leask’s death over contribution of 17 runs took Scotland’s total to 176 for 5. Ireland started the chase slowly and scoring only 37 runs in the Powerplay and also lost 2 wickets in that. Further they collapsed to a score of 64 for 4 in their first 10 overs.

The match at Bellerive Oval was turned around by an unbeaten 119 runs  partnership for the fifth wicket between Curtis Campher and George Dockrell. Ireland gradually lowered the target hitting fours and sixes at will and where at the last two overs needed to score only 12 runs.

Ireland’s highest ever individual score at a T20 World Cup was achieved by Campher scoring 72 off just 32 balls, who finished the game 19th over with three straight boundaries to finish the match and secure the victory. George Dockrell also played a sensible knock scoring 39 runs off 27 deliveries and both ensured that, Ireland still remain in the contention to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2022.
