Japan Considers Utilizing Long Range Missiles To Counter China

According to Reports, Japan is considering deploying 1,000 long-range cruise missiles on Sunday, to improve its ability to combat China. They said that, the missiles would be existing weapons modified to boost their range from 100 km (62 miles) to 1,000 km.

They said that the weapons, which could be fired from aircraft or ships, would be positioned mostly close to the southern Nansei islands and be able to reach China and North Korea’s coastlines. Ambassadors from the Japanese foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the allegation.

In recent years, Japan has expanded its military spending and taken a more confrontational position. The nation believes that its post-war constitution, which outlawed war, only permits it to utilise its military for self-defense.

However, the fact that it hasn’t used long-range missiles is one of its limitations when it comes to armament that may attack targets on foreign soil.

This month, tensions in the region increased as a result of Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, visiting Taiwan, a self-governing island which China also claims. Beijing fired missiles near Taiwan and into Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
