Manga Artist Kazuki Takahashi Of Yu-Gi-Oh! Found DEAD

Kazuki Takahashi, a manga artist best known for creating the Yu-Gi-Oh series and the well-liked card game it is based on, has been discovered dead.

According to sources, A body was “found floating while wearing snorkeling gear in the waters of Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, on Wednesday morning”. The corpse was identified as Takahashi’s by Japanese coast guard personnel on Thursday, and they are now “looking into the cause of death.”

Beginning his manga career in 1982, Takahashi toiled for the following 14 years to attain popularity with works like Fighting Hawk and Tennenshoku Danji Buray. But when he published Yu-Gi-Oh in 1996, everything changed.

In addition to writing the manga, Takahashi, who had some experience in game design, also came up with the general layout for a card game that was featured in the series itself. Originally called Magic & Wizards but later changed to Duel Monsters, the game was released in Japan by Konami in 1999 as a real trading card game and went viral. It was released in the United States in 2002 and is still well-liked today.

Takahashi was still working in the comics industry; he continued to contribute to the overall creative direction of Yu-Gi-Oh, and a Marvel project he worked on that included Iron Man and Spider-Man was only released two weeks ago.
