San Francisco, California. Google is apparently attempting to reduce the amount of annoying Chrome notifications users receive by disabling notifications from websites deemed “disruptive” by the corporation. According to 9To5Google, Chrome will shortly be able to instantly withdraw a website’s authorization to send alerts and reject any future requests, thanks to a recent code modification.
It’s simple to click “Allow” whenever asked whether you want to get notifications when you’re on a website that frequently asks for permission for using cookies and applications that need a lot of permission to run at all, according to the research.
Before anyone realize it, their web browser is being bombarded with the most recent recipes from a website they’ve entirely forgotten about. It becomes even worse because you subscribe to Chrome alerts from a page that transmits plain spam, according to the company.
In past years, Google has made progress on this issue, “quieting” the message prompt from webpages that misuse notifications or seek for permission in an untruthful manner. According to the article, the corporation is now attempting a more aggressive strategy to eliminating notification spam.
A Google spokesperson stressed the importance of protecting Chrome users from the different types of spam that are prevalent on the internet in a statement.
“Notification spam is one of the top complaint reports we receive from Chrome users. This feature is focused on addressing this problem by ensuring users are only receiving relevant notifications,” the company stated. “We see this work as acting on behalf of users to protect their interests, and is an intervention that is under user control and discretion,” it added.
