In order to spend more time with his family and be available for local tournaments, New Zealand Cricket stated on Wednesday that it has agreed to release bowler Trent Boult from his central contract. After multiple discussions with NZC, the 33-year-old fast bowler sought the release. The arrangements were eventually approved by the board on Wednesday.
The move means Boult, who has taken 317 Test wickets, 169 at ODI level, and 62 in T20I cricket, will have a significantly reduced role with the BLACKCAPS during his final years in the game, while still being eligible for selection if and when available.

The pacer acknowledged that it was a challenging choice and added that he is aware of his limited time as a fast bowler.
In the end, he said, it was about his wife Gert and their three little boys. He claimed that his family has always been his main source of motivation and that he is happy prioritising them while preparing for life beyond cricket.
He was aware that the action would make it less likely for him to play for the BlackCaps.
Boult has played in 215 games for New Zealand across all three forms since making his debut in 2011 against Australia. He is one of just four players to have 300 Test wickets for New Zealand, including one ten-for and 10 five-wicket hauls. He has taken 169 wickets in ODIs and 62 in T20Is.
He is currently ranked No. 1 in the world for one-day international bowling and No. 11 for tests.
