United States Pilot Refuses Flying Aircraft To Israel Over Security Reasons

Due to the worsening Israel-Palestine conflict, a United Airlines pilot declined to fly the plane from Newark Airport to Tel Aviv, the Capital of Israel. This, as per information, resulted in a 24-hour delay of the trip. According to reports, the pilot decided against going to Tel Aviv “because to the security situation”.

Additionally, ground staff informed those who were still seated at the gate that the aircraft would not depart when planned as passengers were being boarded. The initial explanation given to the passengers for the delay was “crew refusal”.

The airline later stated that the flight had been cancelled due to a “flight curfew” in Israel and “in light of the security situation” after the most recent wave of rocket attacks, perplexing customers because Israel had not previously announced such a curfew.

Some  passengers had already arrived on board aeroplane UA84 before they were told to disembark. The ground staff informed the passengers that the captain had opted not to fly to Israel because of the security situation once they were back in the waiting room.

A passenger named Gil Eyal tweeted about the incident and asked United Airlines’ official  for an explanation. Flight UA84 finally took off for Tel Aviv and landed safely after more than 24 hours of delay.

Over the previous three days, the Gaza Strip has been the launch site for more than 500 rockets. Despite threats to flight safety, the Ben Gurion Airport administration adjusted the flight patterns to and from Israel, ensuring that commercial aircraft could continue to fly without incident.
