Work from home no longer acceptable : Elon Musk

Elon Musk is tired of Tesla employee employed from home and wants them back in the office as early as possible. In a recent communication to Tesla employees, Elon declared that working remotely is no longer a possibility. Employees who do not want to return to work can also leave the organization, according to Musk. “They should pretend to work somewhere else,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk commented in response to a Twitter user who questioned what must be done about those who believe working from home is a relic of the past.

In the official communication channel, written under the title, “remote work is no longer acceptable”, Musk stated, “anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla.”

The billionaire further noted that the office “must be a main Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties, for example being responsible for Fremont factory human relations, but having your office be in another state.”

This is not the first time that musk has acted as a martinet and gone tough on the people working below him.

Keith Rabois, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and entrepreneur, told an account from Musk’s initial periods in a series of tweets a few weeks ago, and it seemed to contrast with Musk’s carefree tone on Twitter.

Musk once observed a group of interns assembling while waiting in the queue for coffee at Space Exploration Technologies Corp and threatened to fire them all, he claimed. It was an affront to productivity, according to Musk. Then, according to Rabois, Musk threatened to dismiss these interns if it happened again. Later, the Tesla CEO added security cameras to monitor compliance.

Rabois remarked in April, while reviewing the plan to purchase Twitter, that staff at the firm, that has historically welcomed remote working, were “in for a rude awakening.” Employees at Twitter are already fearful of losing their jobs after Musk takes over as CEO in the coming months. Musk is poised to terminate Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and take over as interim CEO.
