Zimbabwe won the three-match series 2-1 on Saturday, September 3 by defeating Australia by three wickets in the third and final ODI. Ryan Burl’s surprise 5-for-10 performance in just 3 overs helped Australia get bowled out for just 141 in 31 overs. Zimbabwe successfully finished the chase with 3 wickets remaining. Further Zimbabwe created record by winning against Australia in Australia.
Tadiwanashe Marumani, the opening batter, scored 35 runs off of 47 balls to help them get a head start in their chase of 142. It appeared as though Zimbabwe would not be able to win when a few early wickets went because more than 50 runs were still needed.
The skipper, Regis Chakabva, gave a hero’s performance to lead his team to a 3 wicket victory. Australia had a poor day in the park as only David Warner stood out with the bat, scoring 94 runs.
Warner was the only batter to score more than ten runs, and Glenn Maxwell was the only other batter to do so with 19, as Zimbabwe shattered Australia’s batting order and bundling out them earlier than expected.
